At the age of 11, after complaining that all her mandatory reading books were about white boys and dogs, Marley launched the campaign #1000BlackGirlBooks, which ended up collecting more than 9,000 books featuring Black female protagonists to be donated to other Black girls.

Marley is currently attending Harvard University. 

Marley is the host and executive producer of the Netflix show Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices, which shares children books by Black authors.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS.
